Biography

Dr David Merer has been affiliated with Westchester Medical Center since 1996, has been a member of the faculty of New York Medical College as an Associate Professor since 1999 and is also on the staff at Blythedale Children’s Hospital.  A fellowship trained Pediatric Otolaryngologist, he has cared for the children of the Hudson Valley for 30 years. Over his career he has had the opportunity to care for children with a wide range of problems from simple (ear and tonsil diseases) to complex (airway problems). His experiences over his career have helped him to diagnose patient’s problems appropriately and allows him to give parents treatment options to help their child. He prides himself on his ability to make children feel comfortable during their visit to his office, which is very important for future interactions. He cares for children from birth to 20 years old and is happy to see both Neurotypical and Neurodivergent patients. Dr Merer will see children with any Otolaryngologic diagnosis and will refer patients to appropriate specialists if need be.

As an Associate Professor at New York Medical College and an Attending on staff at the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, he has had the opportunity to teach Otolaryngology Residents, Pediatric Residents, Medical Students and Physician Assistants about the day to day working in an Otolaryngologist’s office as well as in the Operating Room. He has shown them how appropriate Doctor/Patient interactions in the office can be as important as their clinical knowledge.
